Ms. Katie Kruse started dancing at Dance Productions Unlimited at age 4. She studied under Ms.Lisa & Ms.Gina, and many other teachers, studying tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, pointe and acro. Ms. Katie started competing at the age of 7, doing solos and group routines, and at 12, was asked to join the Petite Sweet n Sassy Dancers competition team. She attended many regional and national competitions in her 10 years of competing with DPU, along with learning choreography from Ray Leeper, Tina D’Amato & many others. She has also had the opportunity to travel not only in the U.S. for competitions but was a goodwill ambassador traveling to Australia in 1996. Ms. Katie was also a part of the Fox Warriorettes from 1996-1998 becoming a captain her senior year.
She has been teaching dance for 19 years, 12 of those in the St.Louis area. She has taught at studios in New York, South Carolina, and Washington while her husband was active duty navy for 9 years as they moved around the United States.She has also won numerous awards for choreography & costumes while working with several competition teams around the country. She continues her dance education by attending conventions to stay current with the changing trends of dance. If you don’t see Ms. Katie at the front desk she is probably sewing or putting rhinestones on a costume.
Ms. Katie is married to her high school sweetheart, Kevin, and has 4 amazing children Mackenzie, Kaylie, and twins, Andrea and Kevin.
She is beyond excited to be back at DPU where she was given the tools not just to be a good dancer, but to be able to teach the passion of it to others. She is excited to have her kids taking classes from the same women that she looked up to for so many years, and looking forward to the future at DPU.
